Shashank Walia is an Indian cinematographer and director. He studied Cinematography at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, and earned his master’s degree in Mass Communication from AJK Mass Communication Research Centre (AJK MCRC) in New Delhi. Shashank has written, filmed and directed several short films and documentaries, some of which have been critically acclaimed at home and abroad. He wrote and directed the short film ‘In the Month of Love’ (2019). Shashank’s talent was acknowledged by the Japanese public broadcasting network NHK Japan as he shot various documentaries like ‘Love in The Time of Hate’. He also became the Associate Cinematographer for the 2018 film ‘Soni’. This crime-drama-themed movie was first screened at the 75th Venice Film Festival and received a standing ovation from the audience. The critically acclaimed film was also screened at Pingyao International Film Festival, where it won the Best Film Award.
