A former student at Delhi University's St. Stephen's College, Senior Executive Editor Gaurav C Sawant works for India Today TV. He is married to Aditi Arora Sawant. When the Kargil conflict erupted in 1999, Gaurav was a trainee reporter for The Indian Express. He is the author of the Macmillan book Dateline Kargil: A Correspondent's Nine Week Account from the BattleFront. The Indian Navy granted Gaurav "Wings" in December 2007, and he has since completed five parachutes at the INS DEGA in Vishakhapatnam. Additionally, he performed a tandem leap and an assisted free fall for the Indian Navy. Amid the India-China standoff, Gaurav made history by being the first journalist to reach Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO) and report on the 255 km long DS-DBO vital road. On weeknights, Gaurav hosts India First at 10 p.m. on India Today and Desh Ka Gaurav at 8 p.m. on Tez.
