Rouble launched her project, “Misaal Mumbai.”
In 2016, Paint Dharavi was the focal point of the initiative, later extended further to Bandra West, several sites in Mumbai, and other parts of Maharashtra. Starting with a few volunteers to expand the initiatives to millions, she achieved all her set goals. The slums of Mumbai are home to millions yet face difficulties like cramped spaces, garbage heaps, and overcrowded population. Rouble helped locals and residents in painting and cleaning the slum areas along with her team. In the beginning, she provided art classes to the children of her hometown, later took the step forward by taking inspiration from her experiences. According to her, “Misaal Mumbai” is not just an initiative but a large family of volunteers and workers connected through art. She managed to paint and repair up to 24000 houses through the project giving new life to the slums while taking care of health and hygiene. Other than this, the project aimed at spreading the importance of women’s empowerment and sanitation. She also offered creative ventures and art workshops to the underprivileged.
Other than generating job opportunities for the unemployed, Rouble helped them in their business ventures. The purpose was not just to beautify the slums but to bring change through art. Eventually, she managed to turn slums into rare pieces of art. As an internationally acclaimed artist, Rouble has won many awards, with over 800 murals, conducting more than 150 exhibitions around the globe. Her projects changed the lives of millions leading to the upliftment of the poor and bringing positive change in society.
