Kim Jagtiani’s real name is Komila Jagtiani, who was born on August 8, 1980 in Mumbai, India. She is a renowned Indian - Canadian broadcaster who also hosted television programs such as Daily Planet where she did the series, India Unleashed. Kim is also a Video Jockey (VJ) in music television show, Channel V India. She also hosted the Cool Stop, Club V and more.
Kim, along with her family, moved to Oshawa, Ontario, Canada and she changed her real name to Kim Jagtiani so she can easily accustom to the Canadian society. In 1999, she joined the Miss India Canada pageant and she got the runner-up award. She is also a model of popular magazines like, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan. When she was in India for a vacation, Channel V called her and asked if she can try the audition. Kim declined the offer but her aunt asks her to reconsider and give it a try. When Kim attends the audition, she thinks that it was unsuccessful. She was surprised when Channel V called her again and offered a full-time position for her. Kim was studying at University of Toronto that time when she decided to return to Mumbai in year 2000 to start her job. Her career in Channel V lasted for 5 whole years and she also learned Hindi through it. Later, she hosted the travel show, Exotica on STAR One channel.
Aside from hosting, Kim also performed in various Indian plays and ads. She played as Reena in the comedy-drama play; My Best Friend’s Wedding under the direction of Sundeep Sikaand. She was also a trained dancer of several dance forms like Jazz and Latin dances. In 2003, she started her training on one of the Indian classical dance called Kathak. Kim joined many dance competitions. This just shows that dancing is truly one of her passions.
Then in August 2007, she was announced by the Discovery Channel to be the new co-host in the daily science show, Daily Planet in Canada. She also hosted the theme week of India for the said program in 2007. In 2008, Kim left the Daily Planet and came back to India. She hosted the travel documentaries in India’s Discovery Channel and the auto show, Two For The Road together with
Varun Mitra
for NDTV Good Times. Kim made it to be one of the semi-finalists in the Tourism Queensland’s contest, The Best Job In The World.
Kim loves to read books on weekends. She likes to read almost all kinds of books, be it a fiction or autobiographies, she feels happy while reading. Besides reading, she also loves to watch movies especially old films.
