Anisul Hoque is a journalist, author, screen play writer and novelist of Bangladeshi origin. At present he is the co-editor of Kishor Alo magazine and a Bangladeshi daily newspaper Prothom Alo. Anisul was born in the year 1965 in Nilphamari in Bangladesh. He went to the Rangpur Zilla School for his higher secondary education. He started writing when he was a student. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. After completing his bachelor’s degree he undertook a job, which he soon left to pursue a career in writing. Anisul went to the University of Iowa for the International Writing Program in 2010. He has written the screen play for television serials like Ghure Daranor Swapno, Choruibhati, 69, Nikhoj Shongbad, Naal Piran and Ekannoborti.
He also has to his credit the scripts of movies Made in Bangladesh, Swapnodanay, Bachelor, 2004, and Third Person Singular Number. His writing includes novels Amar Ekta Dukhkho Achhe, Dushwapner Jatri, Se, Nandini, Ayeshamangal, Maa, Khuda o Bhalobashar Galpo, Amar Ekta Dukhkho Achhe and Kheya and poems Ami Achhi Amar Anale, Tomake Bhabna Kori, Khola Chithi Sundarer Kachhe, Asale Ayur Cheye Baro Shaadh Tar Akash Dekhar and others. He has been honoured with TENASINAS Award and the BACHSAS Award for his screen play. He has also been felicitated with the Bangla Academy Literary Award, Khalekdad Chowdhury Literature Award, Euro Shishu Shahitya Award and the CitiBank Ananda Alo Award.
