As a director, De made his debut in the unreleased film Mohulti in 2011, with Tanushree and Soumik playing the lead roles. He has written and directed several remarkable films like 1.30 AM, released in 2012; Cactus, KUJO: The Vessel, released in 2016; and The Last Rain, released in 2022. He has also worked as a cinematographer in Goal and Uthan.

Sourav Dey has won the Best Cinematographer Award for 1.30 AM at Asian Film Festival in 2012, Jury Prize for Best Screenplay at Global Indian Film Festival in 2022, Award for Best Cinematography at Jaipur International Film Festival in 2012, Best Director Award for National Short Film in Jharkhand National Film Festival in 2022, Jury Prize for Best Short Film in Mumbai Shorts International Film Festival in 2012, Award for Best Indian Short Film in Rameshwaram International Film Festival in 2023, and an Honorable Mention in Los Angeles Movie Awards, US in 2022.

Sourav is also a well-known Photographer. He is an associate member of the Photographers Guild of India (PGI). Dey’s first Photo Exhibition was an international exhibition organized by a California-based Global Heritage Fund. It was held at Meridian International Center, Washington DC in April 2010. Sourav married Upalparna Dey. He plans to release more short films in the future.

Sourav Dey is a phenomenal singer who performs all genres of music, including semi-classical, Hindi commercial Bengali film songs, and modern Bengali songs. He was born on 4th October 1974. He was a participant in the 2016 season of Star Jalsha’s ‘Phire Asaar Gaan’. He is a member of the musical group ‘Dreams-The Band Beyond Generation’, which was founded in 2008. The band is a progressive musical ensemble from Kolkata. The band's distinctive musical style continues to appeal to all age groups. They use folk, soft rock, and melody genres to create their unique composition. Some of his famous songs are ‘O Priya’, and ‘Prem Je Keno’.
