Ferdausi Rahman, a famed folk singer and one of Kazi Nazrul Islam's close friends, was born in 1941 in Cooch Behar, a small but lovely town in the northern region of West Bengal. She is the only child of Abbasuddin Ahmed. In Calcutta, Ferdausi gave his debut stage performance in 1946. She had only turned six at the time.
