Soumili, born in Barisha (South Kolkata), is a Bengali film actress. Besides being a film actress, she stars in television shows, does modeling, anchoring and reserves passion for classical dance. She is younger of the two siblings, and the name of her elder brother is Sujoy. She is a well-educated girl and an alumna of VidyaBharati’s Girls’ school and had her graduation from the Jogamaya Devi College, a Women’s College of the University of Calcutta in Economics(Hons).
She is a classical danseuse. A trained Bharatnatyam dancer and a mesmerizing ballet, she regularly showcases her talents in dance dramas. She’s got a colossal interest in dance performances organized anywhere inside or outside Kolkata. Biswas has also been rewarded with the prestigious SangeetRatna and SangeetBibhakar awards. “Alo”, released in 2003 was Soumili’s maiden film, where she appeared in a supporting role. She is also known for “Agnishapath” (2006) and “Bajimaat” (2008). She played the protagonist (lead) in films like “ Asha Asha is an Indian serial in the Odiya language. It >> Read More... ” (2006), “U-turn” (2010), “SudhuTomake Chai” (2013). Biswas appeared in televisions shows like “Jhum Ta Ra Ra”, which was broadcasted on Zee Bangla and “Somoy”, which aired on Ruposhi Bangla.
She features as an anchor of a student based show in Tara Bangla. In 2007, she portrayed the role of Durga in ETV Bangla’s “Durge Durgatinashini”.
Soumili Biswas tied the knot with Ayan Ghosh, a banker on 9th December 2012, at Tolly Gunge, Kolkata. This was an arranged marriage, and her in-laws had no issues with her acting career continuation. Presently, she is perfecting her role of a master chef in the kitchen. Soumili feels that her experience as an anchor in a television show named “Radhuni” helped her a lot in this regards.
