Rawshan Zamil was a Bengali actress and dancer. She won the Ekushey Padak in the Dance category in 1995, and for her role in her film 'Noyonmoni' (1976), she won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. She was born on May 8, 1931. Jamil was born in Dhaka; her father was Abdul Karim. Her sister's name was Alpana. She married Gauhar Jamil in 1952. After passing her entrance exams, Jamil enrolled in her Bhavan at Shilpakala in Wali. She married dance teacher Ganesh Nath in 1952. They co-founded the Jago Art Center in 1959. Jamil started her career as a T.V. actress in 1965 and has appeared in over 300 TV dramas, including Lakshi, Paravodol, and Showkal Shonda. She appeared in about 200 films.
Her film career began in 1967 with Alibaba Challish Chor. She has worked in films like Gori, Agun, Sujan Sakhi, Abar Tora Manus Ha, Chitkar, Poka Makorer Ghor Bosoti, Matir Ghar, Badhu Biday, Saheb Bibi Golam, Surja Dighal Bari (1979), Pension, Lal Kajal, Kalmilata, Devdas (1982), Shes Uttar, Ramer Sumati, Janani, Beder Meye Josna (1989), Mis Lalita, Nader Chand, Matir Kole, Shonkhonil Karagar (1992), Chitra Nodir Pare (1999), Srabon Megher Din (2000), Bandhan Hara, Dahan, Julie, Desh Bidesh, Lalsalu (2001). She has won four awards, Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress (1976), Bangladesh Film Journalist Association Award, Tarakalok Puruskar, and Ekushey Padak (1995). She died on May 14, 2002.
