Priyam Hazarika was a Bengali actress. She was born on March 2, 1928, and died on June 3, 2015. Her original name was Priyamvada Patel Hazarika Hazarika, and she was born in Vadodara, Gujarat. She was the eldest of five siblings. Priyam Hazarika worked dominantly in the Bengali film industry. Hazarika was exposed to classical Indian dance and Indian culture while she was staying in India. And during the same period, Hazarika contributed her passion for classical dancing by helping General George C Marshall to raise funds to restore the stability of Europe during the war. She performed at various venues organized by the new Indian Republic’s consulates to the UN and Washington DC.

Bhupen Hazarika was from Assam and soon returned to his hometown with his wife and child. After staying in Assam for four years, the couple decided to leave Assam and settle in Kolkata so Bhupen could pursue his creative career. Together, the couple opened their own film production company, BP Films, which is short for Bhupen-Priyam Films. Bhupen and Priyam produced several Assamese films that fell under the art film genre. Some of them include Era Bator Xur and Mahut Bondhu Re. Priyam was the choreographer for the movie Era Bator Xur.

She did the work of a dance composer and was the lead dancer in the film. Hazaiya was also the co-director of the film. At the age of 85, Hazariya stole the heart of audiences through her dance performance at a memorable performance that was arranged to celebrate Bhupen Hazarika’s songs. The performance was organized at the Sutradhar Dance Academy in Nowgoan. Hazarika’s most known movie is Tero Nadir Pare, a Bengali movie released in (1969). Barin Saha directed the movie. Hazarika took her last breath at the age of 87. She suffered complications stemming from a blood clot in the main artery to her intestinal system. On June 5, she was cremated in the presence of family and friends.
