Devi 2 Movie Review

2.75 / 5.0

Devi 2” is scripted and directed by AL Vijay. The film has the star cast of Prabhu Deva, Tamannaah Bhatia, Nandita Swetha, Dimple Hayathi, Kovai Sarala, Guru Somasundaram, Darshan Jariwala, Yogi Babu, Arjai, Aravind Akash, RJ Balaji, Manush Nandan and Sonu Sood. Sam CS composed the music. Ayananka Bose cranked the camera and “Anthony” edited the film. GV Films and Trident Arts bankrolled the movie.

Krishna and Devi are lovable couples. Devi finds out that her husband is possessed by a ghost. She tries to send the spirit out from his body and their friend Lalitha helps her. Later, they find that it is not a single ghost that had possessed Krishna, but two. Did they manage to send the spirit out? What happened next? Watch the film!

Star Performances

The leading stars have performed the given roles well. But, their talents are not used completely.

AL Vijay has scripted a similar story like “Devi” where Prabhu Deva and Tamannaah shared the screen space for the first time. The first half of the film had no changes from that of Devi. The reasons for the ghost possessing Krishna is not convincingly explained. Kovai Sarala’s role has nothing new to offer. Yes, she had been given the stereotypical role, which she had done in the ghost series, so far. Nandita and Dimple’s characterizations are also not impressive. Similarly, the villains' roles didn’t impress. The songs are forcefully inserted and Tamannaah is shown as a glam babe in the songs unnecessarily.

What’s There?

  • Huge star cast
  • Performances of the stars are good

What’s Not There?

  • Script is unimpressive
  • Forcefully inserted songs and scenes
  • Unnecessary glamor scenes for Tamannaah

Most of the sequels are not hits and Devi 2 joins the list. If you don’t have any films to watch this weekend, you could try this film!
