Ajith’s Movie Director Lost His Mother!
Ajith Kumar had been getting ready with “Valimai” directed by “H Vinoth.” In the initial stages of his film career, he had done many romantic roles that set him a good fan base. One of the super hit films in the initial stages of Ajith's career was Kandukondain Kandukondain. It was directed by Rajiv Menon, the cinematographer cum director. Rajiv Menon has directed just a few films including Minsara Kanavu, Kandukondain Kandukondain and Sarvam Thaala Mayam. Rajiv’s mother is a popular playback singer, Kalyani Menon. She started her career as a classical singer and gradually received opportunities in the film industry. With her unique voice, she grabbed the attention of the audience. She has crooned songs for various music directors, including MSV, “Ilaiyaraaja” and “A R Rahman.” Some of her hit songs are Nee Varuvaaiyena for Sujatha composed by MSV, Sevvaaname Ponmegame for Nallathoru Kudumbam composed by Ilaiyaraaja, Indiraiyo Ival Sundariyo, Alaipayuthey Kanna, Adhisaya Thirumanam, Omana Penne composed by AR Rahman, Chentharmizhi composed by “M Jayachandran,” Kathale Kathale for “96” composed by Govind Menon. She was 80. She died yesterday due to some age-related illness in Chennai. The last rites were done today at Besant Nagar. May Her Soul Rest In Peace!
