Anuya Bhagvath, one of the well-known actresses from the Tamil film industry, had started her career in a Hindi movie back in 2007. She was graduated from the Film & Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. The director of her first film, Kranti Kanade Kranti Kanade is a filmmaker of Indian origin. He >> Read More... , was involved with Pune and FTII, and Anuya's debut happened with his directorial venture, "Mahek." It was a remarkably well-done film that received several awards in the Children's Film Category. It had its premiere at the London Film Festival and received the Best Picture award at the Houston International Film Festival. Recollecting the period just after her Pune and "Mahek" days, she revealed that she was trying an entry into Bollywood when she had almost given up the hope of acting in Tamil films. This was when she was fortunate enough to get the call for her first Tamil movie, " Siva Manasula Sakthi Click to look into! >> Read More... ." What was even more encouraging was that it was one of the critical roles she was chosen for. Her role was also a serious one. She wanted to dispel the common belief in Tamil cine-goers minds that whoever came into Tamil cinema from Mumbai was inducted for their glamour value in ornamental roles.

Having proved her point in her first Tamil movie, she was looking for a different role in her next one. She opted for "Madurai Sambavam" as it allowed her enough flexibility in portraying the typical role of a cop and villain rolled into one. Although done on a shoestring budget, on the acting front, she received very positive reviews from critics, while her fan following swelled as they liked that tough cop image of hers. At this point, she decided to take a break from films to brush up her dancing, realizing that she may miss out on many films. After the break, she did act in smaller roles in a few films and, for a change, has now tried her hand in a Bengali movie based on Rabindranath Tagore's famous novel Gora.
