However, in the true Marathi tradition, she entered acting through the medium of theatre, having graduated from the National School of Drama, New Delhi. Her return to Maharashtra saw her participating in several plays, most noteworthy out of which was her portrayal of the main character in “Tee Fulrani”, based on the theme of “My Fair Lady and “Pygmalion”. Shantaram Award for her role in the film “Savalee”, and the National Award in 2013 for Best Supporting Actress for the Marathi film “Astu”.
