. The show is produced by the Embassy Row production company. The chefs are given a dish to make for each round. The first two rounds typically consist of savory dishes, and the third round usually includes a dessert, except in the first season and a few subsequent episodes.
The chefs are given a minute after the recipe is announced to gather all the pantry ingredients quickly; they require using shopping baskets. After the allotted time has passed, Brown locks the pantry doors and takes one ingredient from each cook before letting them depart. The chef whose dish receives the lowest score is disqualified from the competition and loses all their money. The chef who survives the final round keeps any funds after paying for auction items. In two instances, there was a tie, and both cooks kept their winnings.
