Vettai 2.0: The Next Generation is a Tamil language TV serial that aired on the channel Media Corp Vasantham, a Singaporean-Tamil TV channel, from Monday to Thursday at 10:30 pm for half an hour till 11 pm. Vettai is a crime thriller that features a team of Tamilian Singapore police solving cold cases, i.e., the cases that couldn't be solved and are left open. These cases involve the Indian community and immigrants. They fight for the migrant Indians and NRIs who can’t fight for themselves. They solve murder cases, kidnappings, sexual assaults, corporate espionage, and similar cases. After a few members from the initial team died in the first season, the team of the second season comprised of Mugi, Shan, and Seelan from the initial team, and new comers Meera and Raghav. This season too, witnessed a personal touch between the team members. It showed the ups and downs of working in law enforcement.

Vettai 2.0 is the second season of the much loved Singaporean Tamil television show Vettai. The show falls under the hugely popular genre of police procedural shows. Police procedural shows are a subset of crime dramas in which the whole crime is shown from the perspective of police and the concerned authorities rather than criminals or bystanders. Police procedural shows follow the police as they go about solving the case and trying to figure out who did it by examining all the evidence that they gather from the crime scene. 

Vettai 2.0 is about a bunch of officers who belong to a fictionalized police unit whose task is to solve all the cold cases. Cold cases are a term allotted by the police to cases that are deemed unsolvable due to lack of evidence or some other reason. These special officers take these cases and then solve them by rigorously working on the case and examining all the shreds of evidence. The main characters on the show are Mugi who is played by Gunalan Morgan, Shan who is played by Arvind Naidu, Seelan who is played by Vignesh Waradarajan, and a few more. The huge popularity and success of the first season proved to be a huge advantage to the second season as it recorded huge ratings on the channel. People loved the show for its authentic portrayal of police and their way of solving cases. The show was also praised for its production and the research which went behind each show. Many of the episodes of the show were based on real-life cases which made the show all the more powerful as people were seeing horrible cases that happened in real-time. All this made the show a great success.
