The mother in law and daughter in law feud is a well exploited theme in the television serials. Thatteem Mutteem is also a comedy entertainer that depicts the fights of a mother in law and a daughter in law, but at a lighter vein. The serial shows a mother in law, despite her arguments with the daughter in law, loves her whole heartedly. The same is the case with the daughter in law who finds it difficult to leave her mother in law despite their arguments and fights. The serial is a take on the funny events that happen in a house.

The difficulties faced by the son in pacifying his mother and wife, the funny statements of the kids of the house, all make this series an interesting one. The serial sometimes even look at very contemporary social issues and bring out the same discussions in a very personal and intimate tone, as in a regular household. Thatteem Mutteem is a comedy based Indian television series in the Malayalam language. The series is directed by the renowned R. Unnikrishnan.
