The story revolves around a girl named Sundari, who is very intelligent and talented but is mistreated by the villagers due to her dark skin tone. People in the village are racist and disparage Sundari. She wants to be an IAS officer. She was in an accident while on her way to the examination, but the people in her village believed she had eloped with a guy. Her uncle Krishnan brings her an alliance to protect her from this false accusation.
Sundari married Karthik, Krishnan's brother-in-law. He believes Sundari is incompatible with him, so he brings her to the city. Karthik always dismisses her as knowing nothing, but he is unaware that she is the top student in her school. He eventually leaves Sundari to marry Vaiga and begin living with her. Sundari and Vaiga become close after Sundari saves Vaiga's mother. She took her in as her mother's caregiver. Sundari is allowed to work in her office after she impresses her with her intelligence. Karthik needs to be made aware of the situation.
