The famous Viacom18 MTV music channel developed an innovative initiative of a gender-atypical love duet album, which also happened to be India’s first. This album was unique because it was created by artists from the LGBTQIA+ community, and aimed at celebrating love beyond the typical heterosexual projected love in the conventional Hindi music space. Love Duet, in association with Kitty Su, one of the biggest nightclubs in Mumbai, brought together a whole-some collection of artists and talented musicians to cover and record songs in the genres of rap, indo-western, and indie pop and engage and captivate its audience through the magic and power of free powerful, limitless music. Among the collection of the artists writing and composing the album were talented members of the Industry, such as Sushant Divgikar Sushant Divgikar was born into a Marathi family on >> Read More... , Ma Faiza and Rushik Thakkar Bio coming soon... >> Read More... , just a few among many other names. The album consists of three main songs, each with a fascinating essence.
The first track, Jashn-e-bahar, explores the feelings of first love, mixed emotions, uncertainty, and thoughts of being loved back. The second track, Teri Meri baatein, as the name suggests, is all about love sparkling from simple conversations. Finally, the third track, Ishq karle tu, is a slightly bold song confronting the stereotypes surrounding heterosexual love.
This entire initiative of a gender-atypical album was taken to celebrate the landmark withdrawal of section 377. This campaign served as a fruitful and impactful step towards making a meaningful change in society and bringing about an evolution in Indian music with the help of those who happen to be the future of India, its youth. Drawing inspiration from old-school romance, this album developed a new way of looking at love and conveyed this message to over 30 million.
