Balwant and Vikramaditya are best friends and fellow landowners in the village of Kaliganj, despite their different backgrounds. Tragedy strikes when Vikramaditya's son Sumer abandons his arranged marriage to Balwant's daughter Simran on their wedding day, as he is already married with a son to another woman named Bindiya. Heartbroken, Simran follows Sumer to give her blessing, only to be hit and killed by a car at the train station in front of both fathers. In his grief and rage, Balwant’s son Kuldeep shoots and kills Sumer, for which he goes to jail. This dissolvement of the wedding splinters the town into the warring villages of Pratapgarh and Kishanganj, separating the formerly close families. Sumer’s young son Yug is sent away to London while Kuldeep’s daughter Vrinda, born the day of Simran’s death, is seen by her family as a harbinger of misfortune.

20 years later, Yug returns from London and falls in love with Vrinda, though their families remain sworn enemies. They unsuccessfully try to reconcile their grandfathers Balwant and Vikramaditya. When deception fails as well, Yug goes undercover in Vrinda’s home to win her family over. Just as they agree to the marriage, Balwant exposes Yug’s identity. The lovers elope but honorably return home unmarried the next day, insisting their families accept their relationship. Furious, Vikramaditya and Balwant marry Vrinda off to Rajbeer in another village instead while sending Yug back to London. On their wedding night, Vrinda reveals to Rajbeer that she thought she was marrying Yug. Bound by his dying grandmother’s wish, Rajbeer keeps Vrinda in his home as a lawfully wedded wife. During the six months until his grandmother's death, Rajbeer and Vrinda genuinely fall in love. Rajbeer later tries to reunite Vrinda with Yug but Yug insists the two stay together, finally ending the family feud. However, Yug’s new wife Bharti secretly schemes to ruin Vrinda’s life out of jealousy over Yug’s enduring love for her.

After more twists and turns spanning years, Bharti’s sabotage is exposed and Yug ends their marriage. Vrinda returns with her and Rajbeer’s daughter Tulsi, reigniting tensions with Rajbeer as well as Yug’s protective affections. More drama unfolds, but eventually, the truth prevails. Rajbeer publicly pleads for Vrinda’s forgiveness at her and Yug’s wedding, prompting Yug to unite the rightful lovers once and for all. The families are joyfully reconciled, with Yug finding the promise of new love on the horizon with a woman named Radha.
