The story’s plot follows from its prequel where Kokila Modi, a strict and headstrong woman of the Modi family comes to visit her brother, Praful Desai, who is a banker and lives in the city of Surat. Desai has a joint family, like the Modi family, consisting of Praful Desai, his wife Jamuna, their five children, Pankaj, Chetan, Anant, Hiral, and Tia, and daughter-in-laws Hema and Kanak. Gehna is a kind-hearted girl who is house help. She was brought into the Desai family when her father saved the life of Praful Desai.

Anant, the youngest son of the Desai family returns from the United States. He introduces his girlfriend, Radhika, to the family. Gehna and Radhika soon become friends. Kanak, Hema, Pankaj, Chetan, and Hiral are desperate and want to get the wealth of Praful. Gehna wants the Desai family to be happy. Seeing Gehna facing so many problems and suffering, Anant and Radhika decide to get her married. On the day of the marriage, it is revealed that Gehna’s fiance was cheating on her and wanted to make money from the Desai family. Gehna is heartbroken, and Praful is baffled. He requests Anant to marry Gehna and keep the promise. Anant unwillingly marries Gehna. Gehna becomes the daughter-in-law of the Desai family. Kanak and Hema, Gehna's sisters-in-law, tried to create rifts and hurdles in the life of Gehna and Anant. But Gehna overcomes all the limitations with the support of Praful, Jamuna, and Anant. Gehna confesses her love to Anant, but he refuses and says that he only loves Radhika.

Gehna takes admission into a college as she aspires to become a lawyer. Gehna saves the Desai family from various problems created by Kanak and Hema. Eventually, Anant also starts to fall in love with her unknowingly. Anant becomes jealous when Gehna’s friend Krishna visits. Kanak, Sagar, Jigna, and Radhika want to frame Gehna and the Desai family and put them behind bars. But Gehna and Anant always save the family in time.
