The plot of the serial is that an 18 years old Imlie is a tribal girl who lives in the village Pagdandiya, situated at the outskirts of Uttarakhand. Famous journalist Aditya Tripathi visits the village in search of Satyakam. Imlie shows him the way to meet Satyakam, but due to a storm, both Imlie and Aditya are forced to spend the night together in a small hut. When villagers of Pagdandiya arrive in the morning, they misinterpret the whole scenario and force Aditya at gunpoint to marry Imlie. After marriage, Imlie and Aditya return to Delhi, where Aditya’s family lives. Here he introduces Imlie as a domestic servant. Imlie tries to find her father in Delhi. The Tripathi Family likes Imlie because of her honest and bubbly nature.

Aditya is already engaged to Malini, who is his childhood friend. Aditya tries to tell the truth to Malini about the reality of his marriage with Imlie. But is unable to do it. On the marriage day, seeing Malini happy with Aditya, Imlie stops Aditya from revealing the truth. Imlie’s parents Meethi and Satyakam, arrive in Delhi, but she refuses to return to Pagdandiya. Eventually, Aditya begins to understand the feelings of Imlie and falls in love with her. Imlie also saves Aditya many times from unforeseen circumstances and dangers. Ultimately, the truth unfolds to both Malini and her family that Imlie is the first wife of Aditya. It is also revealed in the serial Malini and Imlie are half-sisters. Both Malini and Imlie fight for Aditya to be their husband. How will Imlie make her way into the Tripathi family, and will they accept her?

After Malini learns the truth about Imlie and Aditya, she decides to leave Aditya and let them live together. Meanwhile, Imlie realizes that Dev is her father, but she refuses to accept the truth. She still acknowledges Satyakam as her father figure. After this, Imlie conveys her wish to Aditya about starting a career in the journalism field. Aditya’s work inspired her to pursue this. Meanwhile, Malini could not tolerate the closeness between Aditya and Imlie. She decides to destroy a relationship and re-enter Aditya’s life.

Malini plots a devious plan and gets intimate with Aditya by intoxicating him. She deceived Aditya and became pregnant. Imlie shows kindness towards the unborn child and lets Malini stay with them. But Malini was unsatisfied and wanted to kick Imlie out of the house. Malini creates misunderstanding and trust issues between Imlie and Aditya. Soon, Malini and Aditya officially get divorced. After this, Malini again plots against Imlie and frames Imlie for shooting her. Satyakam takes the blame for the attempt of murder and goes to jail. Malini asks the family to kick Imlie out of the house. Aditya confronts Imlie and asks her to tell her side of the story. But all this led to the separation of Imlie and Aditya.

The serial introduces a new character, Aditya Singh Rathore. He is the CEO of Bhaskar Times and holds a grudge against Aditya. Imlie unknowingly starts working under Aryan. Initially, Aryan and Imlie start on a rocky note, but later they become good friends. Aditya could not tolerate the friendship between Aryan and Imlie and asked Imlie to sign the divorce papers. Aditya learns about the vengeful intentions of Aryan and tries to warn Imlie. But Imlie refuses to believe that Aryan is using her to get Aditya. Aryan gets Aditya’s journalism license canceled and bans career due to the false declaration of weather reports. After this, Imlie begs Aryan to save the Tripathi family. Aryan puts the condition that Imlie should marry him to save the Tripathi family. Imlie initially faces problems adjusting to the family, but Aryan stands by her. Aryan and Imlie go on a date and eventually confess their feelings for each other. Imlie becomes pregnant. One day, while returning home, Imlie and Aryan encounter an abandoned baby and decide to take her home. Later, Malini claims that the baby is her and Aditya’s daughter. Imlie suffers from a miscarriage and separates her way with Aryan. Imlie starts living with Cheeni in the village. Once Aryan visits the town, he encounters Cheeni and learns about the truth. Later, Cheeni reunites the couple, and they get blessed with a baby girl.
