He travels as a pilgrimage for fresh flavors by exploring different parts of India. Gordon learns to cook a range of Indian dishes, meet fascinating food mentors throughout the country. It aired on Channel 4 on three successive nights as a part of Channel 4’s “Indian Winter Promotion” from 18 January 2010 to 30 May 2011. It had two series In Series 1, Ramsay visit various parts of India to explore India’s various cookery traditions and in Series II he visits the region obsessed with food Southeast Asia ( Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Vietnam) where people are fond of food and cooking. This show telecasted India’s dazzling scenery, varied people, plenty of appetizing, delicious food.

The Great Escape shows how Ramsay cooks on Mangla Express Train for 400 people. Then visits Northeast India ( Shiyong,Guwahati Nagaland, Kolkata). He attends a chilli eating show. He visits an ashram to learn how to cook vegetarian food, involve in a local race in Kerala. Finally he arrives at Mumbai and cooks for India’s rich and famous putting into practice that all he learnt through his journey. The Great Escape shows some interesting things like Gordon speeding on wooden fishing boats, sleeping in Buddhist monasteries on the floor. Many applauded this program however few criticized that the show focused mostly on slums rather than our wide culture and legacy. Also many complained against Ramsey’s language and roughness in speaking. Anyway, The Great Escape show unveils honest cookery, world’s busiest markets, waterways and mouth watering flavors.
