Deepti Mishra is a renowned Indian poet, writer, and actress, working in both the Hindi film and television industry. Born on 15 November 1959 in Lakhimpur, she was raised in an environment that respected the art and culture. In Varanasi, she graduated from Basanta College Rajghat and auditioned for drama at All India Radio, where she performed as well as staged radio plays under the tutelage of Vinod Rastogi. She married Anoop Chandra Misra in 1982. She completed her MA in Hindi Literature from Chowdhary Charan Singh University.
She made her silver screen debut with the role of Anuj K. Sharma, the lead’s mother, in
Tanu Weds Manu
(2011). Starring alongside big names like Madhavan, , and
, she soon shot to fame and reprised her role in its blockbuster sequel, Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015). She’s also acted in the Bhojpuri film, Sathi Sangathi.
Apart from movies, she also essayed roles in numerous TV shows. Her notable shows include Kahani Ghar Ghar ki, Jayan Per Basera Ho, Diya Aur Baati Hum, Kunti, Kahin Diya Jale Kahin Jiya, Urmila, Kahani Nahi Jeevan Hai, Kadam, Kya Betiyan Paraya Dhan Hai, Hakikaat, Kumkum,

Deepti Mishra also penned down the title and theme songs for the TV soap dramas Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, aired on Sahara One, and Pyar Ke Do Naam Ek Radha Ek Shyam aired on Star Plus. She is known to have written songs for the film, Patthar Bezubaan (2015).
Aside from this, she is a renowned poet and has penned down a number of ghazals and poems. Her acclaimed books, Barf Mein Palti Hui Aag, Hai to Hai, and Baat Dil Ki Keh To Dein, showcase her skills as a noteworthy shayar. Consequently, she got invited to recite her work in Mushayras hosted by Indian Embassy in Dubai, Jeddah, Riyadh, and Bahrain.
