The Directorate of Film Festivals is a central organization set up by the prestigious Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India, in 1973. It organizes three major Festivals in India- the Indian Panorama, the International Film Festival of India, and the National Awards. The director of this organization is Sri Senthil Rajan.
The 27th National Film Awards conducted in 1980Â felicitated the best of Indian Cinema in 1979. Some of the major highlights of the 27th National Film Awards include the Best Feature Film Award, which was awarded to Shodh. Shodh is a horror movie by Biplab Roy Chowdhury. Apart from all these awards, Best Feature Film Awards in all other regional languages like Telugu, Odia, Malayalam, Marathi, Manipuri, etc., were also distributed. Most of the awards, however, went to the movie Sankarabharanam. The movie won awards for Best Music Direction, Best Playback Singer- both Male and Female, and Best Feature Film with Mass Appeal.
