A Bengali series named Prajapataye Namah speaks about the relational aspects of life. In the story, a family is awaiting the return of a member from abroad then unfolds their dynamic relationship and personal aspirations. One of the main characters, Pishi Ma, who was abroad, has returned. She is arriving on the international flight and discussions are going on regarding who will go to receive Pishi Ma from the airport. Robi another character left the house without taking his phone. His mother is worried that he is forgetting full day by day. Another character named Pratik is the love interest of one of the female leads. He is a great person with a heart as vast as an ocean. Then, there is a young woman character named Nipa. Nipa is living in the family house and is sought by another character Vishu da. Vishu da is the elder brother of Vishu and he confesses his love in a poetic way to Nipa, but Nipa turns down the proposal saying that he is like an elder brother and has no interest in dating him. Then there is another character named Progga Paromita, the one who completed an MBA in Mass Communication and has a keen interest in media.
She has been proposed as the probable bride of Vishu da. As he is a newcomer the family is explaining everything to him, they describe the happenings in Kolkata which include the culture, the book fair, poetry reading, musical programs, etc. Vishu da is entirely overwhelmed by the behaviour of the family members. His thought passes a sure thing that there is a subtle generation gap between them and the elders they emphasize arranged marriage but the younger ones are believed to have other concepts about relationships and personal freedom. Then, the episode turns to a scenario where the tradition has balanced against modern aspirations. They are more seen in women as they are given education and career pursuits. This creates massive tension in the family dynamics and they also have to face the touting opinions of their relatives. The opinion of the relatives to influence the decision becomes unbearable. The house setting is of a middle-class Bengali household and it is completed with many cultural touches, and they include poetry, literature, and arts.
Everyone is being hemmed in by the argument on marriage, where young ones are pressured towards settling down. Vishu da is a soft person with poetic traits but fails in masculinity and career success which are the traditional expectations in a boy. Phisi return to the home is a special event for the house and its members because it brings some news or it may change the limb of the family. We can sense the tension between the traditional values of the older members of the family and the new way of living of the younger generation living their life and finding their love in their way. The play shows the day-to-day conversations, talking of household things poetic aspects, and philosophical observation. We can view many philosophical observations from Vishu da also. They are a big close family, they have different generations of family living together and they are all involved in each other's lives. There is an undercurrent of humour between the older and younger relations.
