Dr.Narendiranin vinodha vazhakku, was a drama serial of the story written by the famous writer Sujatha. The drama was played in stage and after the massive success of that, the serial was shot. In the stage, the role of Dr.Narendiran was played by the popular actor Poornam Viswanathan. In the serial Sarathbabu played the role. It was telecasted in Doordarshan in the 80s.

The story revolved around a doctor, who returned from the United States, to India. But after seeing the system and life here, he gets frustrated, upset and irritated. He was accused for doing three crimes. The first one was mercy killing of a patient in coma, the second one was abortion and the third killing a cancer patient. As in all of Sujatha’s crime stories, the characters vasanth and Ganesh are featured, but not as detectives. They both were lawyers in this play. The role of the doctor was done by Sarath babu, with ease and efficiency. Y.G.Mahendiran was his defensive lawyer. The story was with gripping twists and with interesting prosecutive process. The serial play was serious and was watched with curiosity and with more interest by the audience. The scenes started with prosecution and the proceedings in those were very interesting to watch with the questions and the defense. The drama when played in the stage was a roaring success and was said that it was staged 175 times. The success reflected as the same when telecasted in Doordarshan too.
