in the lead roles. Mera Naam Karegi Roshann features Reet at its centre. Reet is the daughter of Thakur Veer Pratap Singh who constantly fights for equality in the family and society alike. Her father, unlike conventional Thakurs, supports his daughter fully and on his death-bed instructs her to light the funeral pyre instead of his sons. Also, Thakur instructs her to fulfill his final rites instead of his two sons. The story revolves around Reet's struggle to fulfil her father's dream and her battle with the family, society and the dominant culture.
In the serial, Reet is portrayed by famous Radio Mirchi RJ Sana Seikh. Seikh is also famous for portraying the character of Ritu Shah is Disney's hugely successful Kya Mast Hai Life. The show started going on air on Zee TV from 12th July 2010, replacing the less-popular 'Do Saheliyaan'. However, this series' journey was shortened as it did not gain adequate ratings. The final episode was telecast on December 9, 2010.
