Banwari Taneja is an Indian actor. He was famous for his role in the drama and action movie, Maachis in 1996, which was directed by Gulzar. The movie was all about the representation of terrorism in Punjab after the 1984 riots. Taneja played the role of Kripal Singh as the father of Pali. Before the movie Maachis, he was also in the film, Thodasa Roomani Ho Jaayen. It was a musical drama in which he acted as Papa. This film was all about reaching dreams and catching aspirations which was directed by Amol Palekar.
And in the year 2006, he was again seen in one of the projects directed by Ish Amitoj Kaur in which he was also the writer. The film was also aired in the United States of America and the title was Kambdi Kalaai. The film was all about the rich tradition of the Sikhs. He also played the role of Baig Saab in the Hindi movie, Dor in 2006. The movie ‘Dor’ was all about two women that hail from different religions and backgrounds. He was also a part of the first ever show in Indian television that was shot at Delhi which is ‘12/24 Karol Bagh’.
