Himani Shivpuri is an Indian actress, born on October 24, 1960 and bought up in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. She was known for doing supporting roles in Hindi television series and also in Bollywood films. She was the daughter of Hindi teacher, Haridutt Bhatt. He used to teach at The Doon School in Dehradun where Himani studied. During her school days, she usually used to attend school plays and when she was in her Organic Chemistry post graduation, her passion in acting was developed and she started to perform in school plays while studying. Later on, she joined the National School of Drama in New Delhi and finished her studies in 1984. 

Their village is located in Battwadi, District Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand. Himani used to work as a character actor, but she also did some unforgettable roles in films like the 1997 action thriller film, Koyla where she appeared as Chandabai In the same year, she appeared in Bollywood’s musical drama film Pardes as Kulwanti, in 1995 romantic comedy film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge as Kammo Kaur, Anjaam in 1994 as Nisha and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998 as the hostel Warden.

She was debuted as a television actress through the television serial, Humrahi on DD National. She played as Devki Bhojai which was appreciated by many viewers and gained her fame. Afterwards, she became a regular face in the national television. She appeared as Sulakshana, the mother of Savi (played by Baby Sana) on Zee TV’s Hasratein in 1995. She played the character of an unsatisfied wife who marry an older man and later look for extramarital affairs to satisfy her needs. She was also seen in Balaji Telefilms’ Kasautii Zindagi Kay and STAR Plus’ Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She was also seen as the mother-in-law in the Hindi show, Dollar Bahu on Zee TV in year 2001 and in Chandni, Josh, El Kadki Anjaani Si and Ghar Ek Sapna. In 2005, she essayed the role of Lajoji in the Hindi show, India Calling on STAR One. In 2010, she was one of the Saachi’s in the drama series, Baat Hamari Pakki Hai on Sony Entertainment Television. 

In 2008, Himani essayed the role of Kulraj Kohli in the Hindi drama series, Hamari Betiyoon Ka Vivaah on Zee TV. Then she acted as Shanno in the series, Sanjog Se Bani Sangini in 2011. She was also seen as the grandmother of Sarika on Imagine TV’s Beend Banoongaa Ghodi Chadhunga. In 2012, she played the main lead role as Deep Sethi, a grandmother and a typical housewife who believes in the Indian culture in the comedy series, I Luv My India on SAB TV.
