Plot
Shiva and his wife met in an accident while traveling in a car. His wife dies and Shiva loses his memory for 2 years. Shiva is a facial reconstruction artist. He draws the disfigured bodies and helps the police department to solve many cases. Meanwhile, the city witnesses some burnt body parts here and there. The inspector who investigates this case goes missing. Another lady cop is appointed in that position to investigate it further. She finds many shocking truth. Did they find the murderer? The rest of the film discusses this.
Star Performance
Vaibhav has done a great job portraying various emotions. Tanya Hope seems a miscast. Nandita Swetha fits the mother role perfectly and her emotional performance is laudable.
Analysis
Ranam didn’t have any new script, but the execution was interesting. Unlike other films that project the hero as a multi-talented person always this film has a logic that the hero is a facial reconstruction artist. Vaibhav got a special hero introduction scene and it worked well. Though the screenplay is good, it loses its grip in the second half. Most of the films will have a certain time limit for the character introduction. But, this film continues bringing in the characters to the end and makes the audience keep guessing the murderer. This works well as there are no limitations for the introduction scenes. Certain scenes where the hero suspects the murderer seems odd. The BGM and visuals are decent.
