Analysis
The story seems to be similar to another movie which was released before this one. Hence the script is very unoriginal to say the least. Koottali is the debut film for writer and director Mathi SK. The director, like many others in the Indian Film Industry, has done the age-old practice of copying the script from one of the Hollywood films. The director has tried to put new features in the movie, showing youngsters chasing and seizing cars and facing trouble doing so. His portrayal though is too predictable and clichéd. The film could have been more entertaining had he put more effort in the screenplay. To say that the script and the direction work are below average is a gross understatement. Britto Michael’s songs and the background score make the movie a lot more interesting. Suresh Natarajan has done an adequate work with the cinematography. The climax of the film is way too predictable that it takes out all the fun from the movie.
Star Performance
Satish is a promising star in the Kollywood film industry. His performances in his earlier films exceeded beyond expectations, and it just keeps on improving. Even in this movie, he has done a brilliant work of portraying his character. He realistically delivers his lines without looking like a robot. The actress Krishna Kurup also does a pleasant job opposite him. The supporting cast includes Aruldas as the Don, Kalyan Master as the Police officer and others.
