Plot
On an ordinary day, people were hanging out, when one of them, a science nerd, Aari discovers a unique object which he believes had arrived from an alien planet. He gets some supernatural powers that make him able to do things he would have not been able to do otherwise. He is able to save soil fertility using high technology. However, aliens want that tech back for evil and destructive purposes. During this journey he undergoes various twists and turns.
Star performance
There is only one main lead, Aari Arujunan. He plays the role of a young boy who discovers a unique object. His acting skills were top notch and delivered an exquisite performance. Actors like Shaashvi Bala, Bagavathi Perumal and Motta Rajendran played minor roles. Their performances were to the point and added emotional depth to the script.
Analysis
Ellam Mela Irukuravan Paathuppaan is scientific fiction. It blends comedy with supernatural elements. However, the plot is quite fragmented as the script lacks consistency. The film tries to balance drama along with thriller but fails. However, U. Kaviraj conceptualizes alien and human battle through an amazing screenplay. It has a 'coming-of-age' narrative, as the characters of the film deal with aliens. It also comments on the destructive nature of mankind as they harm the environment by over utilizing resources. For instance, the cube that the lead character finds in the movie, aliens wanted it too but Aari fought for it. He used it for protection of soil which was damaged by humans. Aliens want that object for destructive purposes. The script lacks logic. The soundtracks are enjoyable. The visuals and symbols are pretty impressive. They bring a realistic touch to the script.
