MORE CAST & CREW
99/66 is a horror thriller scripted and directed by MS Moorthy. Besides directing, he produced the film and composed the music. Sevilo Raja cranked the camera. Rachitha Mahalakshmi, Swetha Dorathy, KR Vijaya, PL Thenappan, “Srilekha,” MS Moorthy, Rohinth Chellappa, Sabari, Pawan, Ambani Shankar, and KSG Venkatesh are cast in prominent roles.
Plot
Sangeetha is married to Guna, and they have moved to a new flat in an apartment. They live in number 66, and opposite to their house, another couple, Ranjitha and Karan, live. Sangeetha befriends Ranjitha. Once Sangeetha discovers that Ranjitha’s husband tries to kill her, she informs their neighbours. To her shock, they say that the flat number 99, which she mentions is occupied by Ranjitha, is vacant. When she informs Moorthy, the owner of the flat, he reveals that his daughter had been living there and after her death, it is vacant. How did she die? Was Sangeetha able to come back to normalcy? The rest of the film follows this.
Star Performance
Rachitha is good in her role. After she gets possessed by a spirit, her performance is impressive. Swetha is okay in her role. However, some better expressions could’ve saved a few scenes. KR Vijaya, Thenappan, and others have done what was required of them. Moorthy should’ve tried better expressions.
Analysis
The story is quite decent. However, some performances make us feel that they could’ve cast better actors. Rachitha’s performance is good, but her character should’ve got better screen time. Swetha’s performance is decent, but some scenes didn’t gel with the story. The film has a huge cast, but many are just the visitors, and didn’t stay even for a few minutes. Some scenes for Swetha’s character are finely dealt with. The revenge scenes are not strong. The visuals are impressive, and the editing is pretty decent. Moorthy is the producer and director. He has a lot of scenes, but if some other actors had been cast instead of him, it would’ve been better. As a music composer, he succeeded in a couple of songs and the BGM.

Verdict
It is a thriller with a few decent performances and a message. If you expect exciting horror elements, it may disappoint you.
