Velipadinte Pusthakam is the mystery thriller film scripted by “ Benny P Nayarambalam” and directed by Lal Jose. Velipadinte Pusthakam is bankrolled by Aashirvad Cinemas. The film features “ Mohanlal” in the lead role. Anna Rajan, Anoop Menon, Arun Kurian, Sarathkumar, “ Siddique,” Priyanka Nair, Chemban Vinod Jose, Jude Anthany Joseph, Shivaji Guruvayoor, Krishna Kumar, Alencier Ley Lopez and Salim Kumar are also in the cast. Shaan Rahman is the music composer. Vishnu Sarma cranked the camera and Ranjan Abraham edited the film. This movie is the first film for Mohanlal and Lal Jose together.
Michael Idikula joins as a vice principal at Phoenix College. Michael moves close with his students, staffs and the management. Before the arrival of Michael, the college students who are from the city and the local area clash against each other. But, their focus turned to different direction after Idikula’s entry. On the other hand, Bullet Vishwam is a local rowdy, who helped the missionaries a lot to establish the college in that area. How the local goon and the vice principal’s story get interlaced is dealt in Velipadinte Pusthakam.
Mohanlal comes in three different getups and impresses his fans. He entertains the audiences as usual but in the given space. Anna, Sarath and Anoop had also performed well.
The director Lal Jose should be appreciated for his cast selection. Salim Kumar’s presence created a high expectation on the comedy side. Many comedy scenes are the copy of his previous films and it brings a bored feel. Lal Jose is popular both for his performance oriented and commercial films. But, Velipadinte Pusthakam is really disappointing.
Star cast is good and their performance too
Cinematography is neat
Songs and the BGM gel with the story
What’s Not There?
Salim Kumar’s comedy is not impressive
The director has exaggerated many scenes which irritate the viewers
Action sequences are not impressive
Velipadinte Pusthakam doesn’t reveal what is there in it. Although the film has a good cast and crew, they didn’t satisfy the expectations of the audiences. However, the film could be watched once!
