Plot
In 2006, ten friends from Manjummel, Kerala, set out a trip to Kodaikanal in Tamilnadu. They hire a cab from their friend, who is also their driver. All the boys are from a middle-class background and are trying to come up in their lives. Kuttan is the senior-most friend in the gang. While visiting the Kodaikanal’s Guna Caves, the restricted area, they saw some of the youngsters jump above the fence and visit the place and then return. So, these boys, too, tried the same way and get deep into the path. When they entered in, the weather started to shed its dark shades. These boys enjoyed the place and one of them wrote their gang name on a rock. While they were casually chatting, Subhash fell into a small hole in the cave. Following his disappearance, the boys were shocked and shouted his name, but couldn’t hear even a small whisper from Shubhash. After Shubhash fell into the hole, thousands of bats flew away from the hole and shocked the boys. A local guide, Dominic, saw the bats flying and felt something fishy. He ran into the cave and understood the situation. He insisted the boys get out of the place, as none of the people who fell into the cave came out, and it is a deadly hole. Meanwhile, a local shop owner supported them morally, as his daughter asked him to help the boys. He told them the same as Dominic. But, the boys couldn’t leave the place, and they set out to the police station to get help. But, the cops didn’t believe them and blamed them for killing their friend and staging a drama. Finally, they managed to convince the cops and they tried to rescue Subhash with the help of the forest department. While the friends were shouting his name, Subhash murmurs and they confirmed that he is alive. During the rescue, it started raining heavily and the rescue work was getting delayed. Meanwhile, the rescue team members, who knew well about the deadly hole hesitated to get in. Finally, Kuttan boldly decided to get in to save his friend, who was waiting for the rescue. What happened next formed the rest of the story.
Star Performance
Each one of them did their best. Soubin Shahir excelled in a couple of places. When it started raining heavily, he tried to stop the rainwater entering the hole by lying down near the hole and soon all the friends surround the hole and tried to stop the water. It was one of the emotional scenes. When we think that Chandu Salimkumar didn’t get a meaty role, his idea in the climax creates a Goosebumps moment.
Analysis
The story is very simple. It starts slow in the beginning and continue at a medium pace until they enter the caves. After Subhash falls into the hole, the tension builds up and the screenplay is fantastic in spreading the tension to the audience. The rescue moments were wonderfully captured and the final touch is playing the song Kanmani Anbodu from the Tamil film Guna, after which the cave was named. When the song was played in the climax, it really created a Goosebumps moment, and the audience are in tears. The BGM, visuals, and editing are stunning.

Verdict
The film has no big story to speak much. But it is the performances and the making of an emotional incident that make the audience fall for the film. Manjummel Boys – Victorious!
