Plot
A battle of wits ensues between Nishanth, self- proclaimed innocent college professor accused of rape and Harish, the police officer handling his case, who must struggle to bring the truth to light through thick and thin.
Star Performance
Garudan has a cast composed of some well known names, such as Suresh Gopi and Biju Menon as leading actors and the supporting cast including Siddique, Jagadish, Abhirami amongst others. Suresh Gopi and Menon’s dialogue delivery and dynamic must be applauded as they’re flawless in their performances.
Analysis
Garudan is an intriguing, thought-provoking work of cinema, and a true marvel as an investigative thriller. A movie that explores the multifaceted, nuanced psyches of two intriguing characters with equally high stakes, Garudan is a refreshing piece of storytelling well done to the extent that it'll keep you hooked and on the edge of your seat throughout. It deals with a complex storyline with equally complex characters. The riveting mental tug-of-war that takes place between the two leads is a treat for the soul. Their intellectual battle is witty, intense and suspenseful; loaded with twists and shocking revelations. The story in itself deals with some dark, realistic themes like rape and police injustice.
The direction in this film is amazing as well, with well-executed cinematography that stays in-tune with the plot to deliver a thoughtful cinematic experience. The focus shots in particular are splendid. The musical score for the BGM is literal perfection: it does a marvelous job of heightening the mood of the atmosphere as required flawlessly. Overall, Garudan is a riveting crime thriller that is bound to leave a good impression on you.

Verdict
Garudan is a beautifully executed crime thriller with a gripping and evocative narrative, complete with fleshed-out characters, motives and backstories. It’s an interesting insight into police procedure and the justice system; however some of the legalities portrayed in this film are not exactly true-to life. It grapples with some dark themes in a realistic fashion and makes for a compelling watch.
