Kerala Film Fraternity Protests Against CBFC’s Objections To Janaki Vs State Of Kerala

Janaki vs. State of Kerala has landed in trouble before release.

According to the recent reports, the film is almost set to release at the silver screens. However, the Censor Board is not willing to certify the movie. Janaki vs State of Kerala is a courtroom drama starring Suresh Gopi Malayali by birth, Suresh Gopinath, also known as >> Read More... and Anupama Parameswaran in the lead roles. Pravin Narayanan is directing the movie.

But why is Censor Board refusing to do so? According to the reports, the Mumbai wing of the CBFC has objections with the title of the movie, since Janaki is also the synonym of Devi Sita, a revered figure from the Ramayana.

The CBFC has asked to change the movie title, otherwise they won’t allow the release of the movie. This has led to multiple protests within the Malayalam movie industry, who find these objections absurd. Interestingly, Janaki vs. State of Kerala stars Malayalam star Suresh Gopi, who is also a Minister of State in the current Central Government.

Janaki vs State of Kerala is not the only movie to face such a problem. Token Number’s release has been also stalled on similar grounds, because one of the character’s name is Janaki, who is married to a Christian guy Abraham.
