Plot

Nite Road is a thriller that is focused on a mysterious road accident. The film begins with a woman who calls the police to save her from Kalyan. The woman gets raped, and the police start investigating the case. The police officer investigating the rape case finds that his brother Kalyan is the suspect. When he plans on confronting his brother, the brother gets into a road accident and succumbs to his injuries. The police then start investigating the road accident. During the investigation, they find that the road accident was not self-inflicted nor caused by crashing into another vehicle. The case becomes even stranger when they realize that accidents occur on that road during the dark, complete moon phase. A mutt chief gets into a conversation with a police officer and tells him there are numerous replicas in various places. As they continue the investigation, they find out that the deaths that have taken place on the road are of people who have all done something dreadful when they were alive, the road accidents acting as a sort of karma for their deeds.

Star Performance

Dharma acts very convincingly and excels in his role as a police officer. Jyoti Rai has also acted brilliantly.

Analysis

The suspense and gradual revelation of facts regarding the case keep us engaged. The film combines spiritual themes with murder, elevating the horror and otherworldly aspects of this film. The screenplay’s pacing can be improved. The narration could have been better if the pace was faster. The cinematography was good. The visuals were appealing, especially the roads they had chosen for the film. Comedy scenes were quite bland, though. The film could have been better if there were more songs and action scenes.

What’s There?

The revelation of clues regarding the case has been kept to a minimum.
The combination of spiritual themes with a murder case makes it more intriguing.
The visuals and settings of the film are beautiful.

What’s Not There?

The pace of the film is too slow.
The comedy scenes were not funny. They were tasteless.
The film lacks songs and action scenes.

Verdict

This film is suitable for fans of horror/thriller/supernatural genre. But it could be pretty boring for some, so I think it’s better to watch this as a leisure activity when there is nothing else to watch.
