Plot
An upright police officer has to stop a human trafficking cartel, which is successfully run by an elusive operator. When a rich businessman’s daughter, as well as her sister, is abducted, he goes after them, only to find out that not everything is as simple as it seems.
Star Performances
The acting performances, and the cinematography are the only good things to remember about this otherwise forgettable film.
If not for the actors, the film was a step away from being a trainwreck.
Analysis
As a wise gentleman once said, ‘Never take anything for granted’. If this was what the makers of ‘Hide and Seek’ intended to convey, they did that in probably the least impressive way imaginable.
The film revolves around a heist gone wrong. Initially, the setting was not too bad, and it could have made for a good, edge-of-the-seat thriller, had the makers not opted for the usual tropes associated with any kidnapping plot. That’s when the narrative and the logic both went for a toss.
The film could’ve been a bit shorter if some sequences were not overstretched. The writers couldn’t figure out which route to take and adopted the easier way out. The editing was not up to the mark, and the twists in the second half could be figured out from miles away.
Only a few weeks ago, movies like ‘Article 370’ and ‘Shaitaan’ were released on the silver screen. While the themes of both films were way different, the thrill factor was not only present but also prominent in many scenes. Sadly, the same wasn’t the case for ‘Hide and Seek’. The background score was anything but impressive, and some of the sequences had no relevance to the main plot, including the love angle. Â
The only saving grace of this film was the camerawork to some extent, and the acting performances of Anoop Revanna and Dhanya Ramkumar. The two tried their best to make up for the mess created by the writers of this movie.

Verdict
‘Hide and Seek’ is what happens when you take a good concept, and make a clear mess out of it. The writing of this film was anything but impressive. The only things that make this film somehow watchable are the visuals, and the acting in a few places.
