Plot
Basti and Badanal are two villages that are divided by a stream. One of the villages has upper-caste people, and the other has the downtrodden. Malabari is the leader of the upper caste people and the other village people were led by Rayappa. Rayappa’s son is Dharma. Malabari’s son was accused of murdering Dharma. Following this, the enmity thickens. Dharma’s son Pepe vows to take revenge for Dharma’s death. But, his mother doesn’t want the bloodshed and wishes to put an end to the enmity. Will Pepe oblige his mother? The rest of the film showcases this.
Star Performance
Vinay has done a good job. He is good in his action avatar. Mayur Patel is okay with the given role.
Analysis
While reading the story, you may think that it is a simple plot. But, the plot actually confuses you, while you watch. As they have put a lot of characters in, every detail should be noted to get the information for the next scene. Until the interval, the audience is forced to watch the screen keenly. After the character intros and the back stories are told, the plot is set to the normal mode. Generally, a thriller film will be more interesting to watch with non-linear narration. But, this is not the case in Pepe. The narration is not engaging and the editing is not impressive. As it is a non-linear narrative, the editing should be sharp, which is missing in Pepe. However, the flashback portions are shown in Black and white to make the audience understand the period, which is pretty useful. The visuals and music are appreciable.

Pepe has a decent script. But the way of narration lacks engagement. However, it is watchable once!
