Directed and written by Piyush Jha, ‘ Sikandar’ features child actor Parzan Dastur in the leading role. R. Madhavan, Ayesha Kapoor, Sanjay Suri, Arunoday Singh and Rahul Singh are also in the movie as supporting roles. Sudhir Mishra produced the film under the banner of Big Pictures. The feature film focuses on the topic of terrorism in India, particularly the Jammu & Kashmir region.

Plot:

The film revolves around Parzan Dastur, who is a 14-year-old kid. His parents were killed ten years ago by jihadi terrorists. Since then, he has lived with his uncle and aunt. Parzan is always bullied by three other kids at school, and he is very much fed up with this. All he thinks about is making his aunt and uncle happy, and to play football in the best way he can. Soon, he makes a new friend at school, a 14-year-old girl named Nasreen. They are walking towards the football field, when Parzan finds a gun lying on the path. Nasreen asks him not to take it, but he picks it up and keeps it. After taking the gun, Parzan’s life begins to change, and he starts going on the path of a darker life. Nasreen tries to explain to him that it’s a very sinful way, and he should just give up the gun. The way Parzan’s parents were killed is in his mind and he decides to go further on this dark path. The situation gets out of hands, and some people get killed. Parzan ends up getting used by militants.

Analysis:

The film is filled with many twists and turns. The movie beautifully portrays how a small innocent kid is pulled into the world of terrorism. The storyline is very gripping regarding the battles going on inside the child’s mind, and the world around him. The movie gives a bold message about how easily a troubled child is tempted into violence. Overall, the film is a must watch.

Star Appearances:

The acting from Parzan is by far the best work he has ever done. His dialogue delivery is brilliant, and expressions are remarkable. As always, R. Madhavan does what he does best. His did a fascinating job with his character. Sanjay Suri was also above average in his acting. Overall, it’s a bunch of actors with very good performances, individually. However, Parzan’s acting is the best part of the film.
