Nishat Khan a man of great capabilities. The legend who went by his passion has conquered a lot many aspiring minds around the globe. Nishat Khan son of UstadImrat Khan, who himself is a surbahar player has won hearts by his skills at playing the sitar. He was born in 1965. He is the pioneer of the 400-year-old musical family. He was born in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.

He was not only proficient at Indian classical idioms but also at Gregorian chant, Western classical music, abstract jazz, and Flamenco. In 2013 he was asked to create an hour-long musical score for the movie ‘A Throw Of Dice’.The audience were taken aback by his music at the Centenary Film FestivalIn the year 2013, he hosted his first sitar concert, "The Gate of the Moon" at the BBC Proms along with David Atherton and BBC Orchestra. The audience were thrilled as hell they could not even dream of anything else, it was just the sound of sitar that could be heard in the whole auditorium.

He has done a movie named Sikandar. He has done a lot of albums from 1990 ranging from Meeting of Angels of 1996 to Sitar Ustad Nisha Khan in 2004. He was awarded Nimbus Records, Amiata Records, Saregama and India Archive Music. Nishat Khan now resides in Beverly Hills and serves as visiting faculty at the University of California, Los Angeles.
