Plot

Dodo, Pinku, and Ayush are childhood friends who aim to go to Goa. However, they fail every single time. They finally get to fulfill their dream one day, but soon fall into a trap. Now they are on the run, with gangsters and police pursuing them. How will the three get out of this mess?

Star Performances

First of all, a loud round of applause for Kunal Khemu. Where had he hidden his talents all these days?

Kunal’s vision has been given full justice by Pratik, Divyenndu, and Avinash. The supporting cast’s performances are like the cherry on the icing.

Analysis

These days, a joke has been quite popular on social media. Some moviegoers are wondering where the comedy has disappeared. They even posted memes like ‘RIP Comedy’!

So, does ‘Madgaon Express’ help in reviving this art? Revive is too small a word for what this screwball comedy has done. It is nothing less than a tight slap to those filmmakers, who think comedy movies cannot be without double-meaning jokes, sequences that are anything but laughable, and repetitive punches that have been shared ad nauseam on WhatsApp!

The film follows a similar path, as taken by films like ‘ Hera Pheri Hera Pheri is a comedy based TV show which came on >> Read More... ’ and ‘Malamaal Weekly’. What’s better is that the film maintains a smooth flow, without meandering anywhere in between. The jokes are not only relevant but also improvised to the delight of the viewers, something that was missing from the comedy movies in the past few years.

Kunal Khemu has certainly reinvented himself with this film. To be honest, the industry has been unfair to such a talented guy. But instead of cribbing about it, Kunal decided to make the change for the better. Having been a part of comedy movies like ‘Dhol’ and the ‘ Golmaal Golmaal is a Telugu comedy television series. The >> Read More... ’ franchise, he had probably observed what it takes to make the audience laugh. This is why in this entire film, there is hardly a scene where you wouldn’t burst laughing.

The acting in this movie is also top-notch. Whoever had thought of casting Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi, and Avinash Tiwary for this film has done a fantastic job. You know a film is very good if even people like Nora Fatehi, who are not that known for their acting skills, do a really good job, even better than some star kids! Upendra Limaye and Chhaya Kadam have done full justice to their roles.

‘Madgaon Express’ is what most of us were yearning for. This movie is funny, intriguing, and entertaining from the beginning to the end. The film may not be completely flawless, but it is a tough lesson for those are ruining comedy for the past few years.
