The filmmakers had to fight against the Central Board of Film Certification to get this film certified. After a hard fight, it released in theaters, today.
Plot
The film has the simple plot of four women, who want to live their life, as per their wish without any hurdles. The title reveals that the desires of the women are hidden under the society. Lipstick is the Desire and Burkha is the society. Shireen, a housewife is working as a salesgirl and she wants to hide her job from her husband. Rihanna, a college going girl intends to become a singer, but her parents are orthodox. Â Â Leela handles the men with her sexuality. Usha, the 55-year-old lady, likes to read the soft porn in the religious books. The story of these four women is the plot. How did they face the challenges of their lives and overcome it is the crux of the story.
Star Performances
The performance of the stars is excellent. Among all, Konkona’s performance is a highlighted one. She impresses the audiences with her casual performance.
Analysis
With the crew of the talented stars, the director need not fear much about the script or the screenplay. Although the film has some raw dialogues, the director proved that those dialogues are not different from the real life. The film deeply analyzes how the married women are used in society. Kudos to the director, who has the guts to fight for the release of the film!

Overall Lipstick Under My Burkha is a daring movie that expressed the feelings of the women. It doesn’t mean that all the women in the society are like the women, portrayed in the film but those characters reflect some of the women in real life. The film is impressive with its script and the performance of the stars.
