Lipstick Under My Burkha is a dark comedy film scripted and directed by Alankrita Shrivastava. Lipstick Under My Burkha is produced by the popular director, Prakash Jha. The film stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Aahana Kumra, Ratna Pathak, Sushant Singh, Shashank Arora, Vikrant Massey, Plabita Borthakur, Jagat Singh Solanki and Vaibhav Tatwawaadi. Zebunnisa Bangash and Mangesh Dhakde composed the music. Akshay Singh is the cinematographer. Balaji Motion Pictures distribute the film. Before the theatrical release, the film Lipstick Under My Burkha was screened in 35 Film Festivals across the globe. Plot

The film has the simple plot of four women, who want to live their life, as per their wish without any hurdles. The title reveals that the desires of the women are hidden under the society. Lipstick is the Desire and Burkha is the society. Shireen, a housewife is working as a salesgirl and she wants to hide her job from her husband. Rihanna, a college going girl intends to become a singer, but her parents are orthodox.   Leela handles the men with her sexuality. Usha, the 55-year-old lady, likes to read the soft porn in the religious books. The story of these four women is the plot. How did they face the challenges of their lives and overcome it is the crux of the story.

Star Performances

The performance of the stars is excellent. Among all, Konkona’s performance is a highlighted one. She impresses the audiences with her casual performance.

Analysis

With the crew of the talented stars, the director need not fear much about the script or the screenplay. Although the film has some raw dialogues, the director proved that those dialogues are not different from the real life. The film deeply analyzes how the married women are used in society. Kudos to the director, who has the guts to fight for the release of the film!
