Jazbaa is surely a movie that has tapped the passion of
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
towards acting. And how realistic is her acting? Her intense anguish when learning that her daughter is kidnapped strikes the right chord with the audience, atleast with me.Â
Plot:Â
Anuradha Verma
is a famous criminal lawyer and she has the reputation of winning any case given to her. In fact, she has the knack to help others from whatever charges that they are faced. And note this, Anuradha is all for her daughter. Then, comes the real test of Anuradha’s character. She is provided with a couple of options including the death of her daughter or to set free a murderer and rapist, who is in jail. What will this devoted mother do?Â
Aishwarya Rai and
Irrfan Khan
have come with stellar performances. Aishwarya gradually slips into the dual nature of her character with great ease. In fact, she emotes her anguish just with her powerful eyes. But it seems she got so involved with the character that you feel sometimes it could have been less melodramatic.
Shabana Azmi
’s portrayal as the mother of a rape sufferer is flawless.Â
Jazbaa is surely one among the excellent films. Here there is a right blend of passion, love and action. The dialogues are contemporary, but the story could have been crafted better. But thankfully, the performances of stalwarts like Shabana Azmi, Aishwarya Rai and Irffan Khan elevate the film. To tell specifically, the emotional outbreak of Ash, when she sees her kidnapped daughter will surely linger in your mind. The film is indeed fast paced and for a film of such genre, this is indeed a commendable quality. The adept direction of
Sanjay Gupta
is indeed a boost to the film. This film deals with a delicate subject as family sentiments. Aishwarya is very keen to save her kidnapped child, but is it at the cost of the justice for a rape victim? Something to think about.Â
Verdict: People who are die-hard fans of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan would surely love this movie. The movie is surely a commendable comeback for the actress, who is returning to the silver screen after 5 years. This film can surely be watched once.
