CAST & CREW
“ Happy Ending” is a Bollywood movie directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. who are famously known as Raj and D.K. Saif Ali Khan has worked in collaboration with them, several times, especially after their successful venture, “ Go Goa Gone”.
Saif Ali Khan, Ileana D’Cruz, Kalki Koechlin, and Govinda make up the huge cast of this movie. There are cameos by Preity Zinta and Kareena Kapoor Khan as well. Nevertheless, it was a flop at the box-office.
Yudi (Saif Ali Khan) is a famous book writer, who has written a book five and half years ago, but still lives a luxurious life in Los Angeles. He enjoys fame and affairs, avoids commitment, and does not work. He parties with his friend, Montu, and has conversations with his bearded fat inner voice, Yogi.
Unfortunately, he runs out of money, and his publishers ditch him for Aanchal (Ileana D’Cruz), a romance novelist.
The only work in hand for Yudi is as a story-writer for Bollywood superstar Armaan (Govinda), who pressurizes him to copy the scripts of some Hollywood movies and write some romance-comedies. Meanwhile, his dentist and ex girlfriend, Vishakha (Kalki Koechlin), obsessively pursue him and irritate him, while he suffers from writer’s block.
Yudi, hence, tries to charm Aanchal, and she gradually gets attracted to him. She accompanies him to Armaan’s party, and also takes a road trip to San Francisco with him. They enjoy their journey, and when they reach there, they are forced to take a single room, where they happen to make love to each other on condition that it is commitment-free.
Divya, Yudi’s ex-lover, comes to him after a fight with her husband, and after noticing him, tells him that he is in love with Aanchal. He realizes and runs to the airport and tells her his feelings, but she just thanks him and leaves.
Vishakha claims a false pregnancy and forces him to marry her. Then finally she breaks as she doesn’t want him to marry her out of pity.
Now, Yudi writes a story, which impresses Armaan, and he goes to Aanchal, and asks her to live with him taking it one day at a time. She happily accepts, thus ending the story.
The story is plain and uninteresting, and lacks any content in the screenplay.
Though there are some comedy scenes and cameos of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Preity Zinta, it fails the audience’s expectations.
No one other than Govinda have met their expectations.
1. There is some good comedy, which has been well executed.
2. Romance is another aspect for which we can watch this movie.
What’s not there?
1. Though there are some comedy scenes, there is no story back-up provided for this movie.
The movie satisfies light-hearted movie goers, but not for screenplay lovers.
