in supporting role. The film is about two inseparable friends Bikram and Bala, set in the 1970s, who are wagon breakers and coal thieves and ends up becoming most powerful, as the city calls them, GUNDAY.
Plot
Gunday is a story of two childhood friends, Bikram (Ranveer) and Bala (Arjun), who travel to Calcutta by striving the turbulent and fights of India and Bangladesh that were taking place in1970s. They start their new life by stealing coal and eventually become the biggest coal mafia in Calcutta.
Everything goes well till one day when Nandita (Priyanka Chopra), a cabaret dancer, enters their life and they both fall for her. A.C.P. Satyajeet Sarkar played by Irrfan Khan is assigned the duty to catch Bikram and Bala, however, every time they successfully outwit ACP and are warned by him that all he need is a single piece of evidence to put them behind the bars.

Analysis
Gunday is an entertaining crime drama based on popular masala movies of the 1970s. In other words, it is a tribute to the era of 1970 of Bollywood where friendship used to win over love and heroes were honored irrespective of the fact that they were criminals.
Gunday is a mix of clichés. One can easily assume about what is coming next. It is a loud movie regarding colors and action. Bond of Ranveer and Arjun makes one nostalgic and reminds of Sholay’s Jay-Veeru.
Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor’s camaraderie, Priyanka’s gorgeousness, the unexpected twists and thrills, fight sequences make this movie watchable. Gunday is fun till it lasts.
Star Performances
All the four characters, Ranveer, Arjun, Priyanka, and Irrfan, has given a top-notch performance. Arjun-
Ranveer’s Jodi is the best on-screen Jodi. Their bromantic performance will stay in your mind even after leaving the hall. Ranveer has given a terrific performance, but Arjun is still not a finished product regarding acting.
Priyanka justifies her character as a Bengali girl and looks authentic. She perfectly matches every step with the leading lads.
Irrfan is remarkable and totally fits the role of the tough cop. He makes his presence count.
What’s there?
Gunday is studded with lively and grooving soundtracks. It appropriately fits in the movie. The film is skilfully executed. Punchy dialogues and clap-worthy scenes make one go for it. The designs are diligently crafted, and everything (set, costumes, etc.) looks as if it belongs to 70s.
What’s not there?
The storyline is old and pretentious except certain twist and turns. One will be left waiting for something innovative and new.
