, the Scottish King during the early 14th century who waged war against King Edward I of England. The film begins in 1304, where we see Robert The Bruce, played by Chris Pine, and other Scottish nobles surrender to King Edward I, who demands their loyalty in return for the lands he conquered from them. Robert tries to live under King Edward’s oppressive rule but plans a revolt when rebel William Wallace is hanged, drawn, and quartered. King Edward I declared him an outlaw when informed of Robert’s rebellion. Robert’s army is ambushed in the middle of the night on their way to Scone for Robert’s coronation as the King of Scots. Most of his army perished in this surprise attack. Robert escapes with a handful of his me. The film follows Robert The Bruce as he and his army employ guerilla warfare techniques to slowly gain the upper hand in and consequently win their war against England.
Star Performance
The entire cast gives good performances. Billy Howle, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Chris Pine give stellar performances as warriors with an unquenchable thirst for victory.
