His life is spent on alcohol, and after seeing some promotion in a magazine he believes that he has struck lottery. Will Forte has done his son David.

Plot: The plot revolves around a father and son going on a highway journey from Montana to Nebraska. The father-son duo is trapped in a town situated in Nebraska. The place in Nebraska is where the father grew up. He needs to wreak vengeance on some people in the town. There is some wry humor in the movie. But the scenes have been captivated beautifully. The story is about a son trying to relate with his father who has remained a paradox for him. Woody Grants and Kate Grants reside in Montana. The aged couple has grown up sons living with them. Woody’s thought processes are demented, but his people say that he believes in things with just a casual inspection into details. His latest thought is the heights of weirdness. Just after seeing some promotion material in a magazine, Woody believes that he has won a lottery. He does not rely on the Post Office of America to hand him over the lottery. So, he decides to get it himself by touring to Nebraska where the magazine’s head office is situated. He wants to get a lorry for himself and leave some amount for his sons. David is the younger son, and he takes up the trip with his father for sheer thrill. On the way to Nebraska, father and son land up at their native place. David sincerely requests his father not to divulge the details of the lottery prize to any of the family members. But, Woody leaks it out to his family. Very soon David understands that they are not heading for lottery prize but towards inevitable doom. Scenes unfold in a colorful manner. The rest of the movie shows their interaction with family members, old acquaintances, and workers. Also, Woody happens to come across Ed Pegram, his partner in the business. David has a stark realization of who his parents are and how they relate to each other. Also, he understands that his father is not a paradox as was his assumption as a son.

The movie is a fine inspection into the older age when people want to breathe free in spite of deteriorating mental and physical health. But, the only setback is that the movie has been made in black and white. The movie’s shooting was speedy. At the same time, the elderly actors have not compromised with their performances.

Verdict: The movie is sure to draw repeat audience just for the actor in Bruce Dern.
